Dear friends
I hope you enjoyed your Summer and are looking forward to an eventful and
colorful Fall season. As a child I remember readying for school, the crisp cool
air and the excitement of the long trip to the big brick school. My
favorite memory, however, is opening the new box of crayons, the waxy smell and
the beautiful piece of blank paper laid before me.
The need to
create and record what we feel and what we see is inherent It
is a well-known fact that art is extremely important to the well
being of every individual, Children come by creativity quite naturally.
The rest of us need to be reminded occasionally how to experience the same
freedom of expression we had as a child. My upcoming workshop is designed to bring back the creative
energies we have forgotten, to tap into the imagination and let the inner self
come to the paper.
Monotype
printing/painting is a very simple art form that
requires no art experience to produce exciting results. It
eliminates the stigma that art means we must make an exact duplication on canvas of some
object. Making a monotype is fun, This art form allows us to play with the imagination and it produces
wonderfully textured, colorful and frameable results. It also gives the
serious painter a time to loosen style, approach painting in a different
manner and to use his honed techniques.
The workshop begins with a short
history of printmaking and tour of my studio and current exhibit.
Each student will
receive a notebook of information on printmaking. Basic techniques will
be demonstrated and students will have plenty of time to experience each process I
will also share the methods I developed for printing and painting on
paper and canvas.
Imaging, touch drawing, “active imagination" and
use of music to stimulate and center will add to the experience.
The price for a Saturday workshop is $75. Some materials
included. (see button below)
Saturday workshops run from 10AM-3PM plus studio time. Children's
classes are after school. Classes may also be set for groups during
the day time hours.
I enjoy “playing”
with the monotype and I use it regularly along with my painting. Join me for this
stimulating
workshop at my studio in the ambience of the restored
Carnegie Library.
Sincerely,
Cara Click here
